Mint Laser & Beauty Spa Review and **Giveaway**

The idea of never having to shave, wax or pluck hair off your underarms, bikini area or legs ever again is very appealing to me. I have entertained the thought of getting laser hair removal from the moment I heard it existed – I mean, who wouldn’t? Never having to deal with unwanted body hair again would be fantastic! So why haven’t more of us embraced this innovation? Well, because most of us have heard the same alarming stories. The stories about the excruciating pain akin to that of snapping rubber bands on your skin. The stories about all the money spent and no results yielded. These stories have been passed on year after year without us realising that it is now 10 years later. A lot can happen in 10 years, especially within this technological age.

Introducing the Soprano ICE laser from Alma lasers which is the most innovative laser technology currently available on the market. It stands by the claim “Pain-Free, Hair-Free” and is said to be the most comfortable hair removal option available to date. The Mint Laser & Beauty Spa has brought this breakthrough technology to South Africa and I was thrilled when one of the owners, Nadia Best, invited me to test it out on my underarms.

Upon entering the cosy salon, I was presented with a board of treats and a quick questionnaire. Nadia took me through the process, answered all my questions and ensured that I was comfortable. As I lay on the salon bed and tucked my hands behind my head, there was a moment of vulnerability and nervousness but once again, Nadia set me at ease. As she applied the laser to my skin, it was ticklish at first and I let out a giggle but I felt no pain whatsoever. Throughout the process I only felt the machine moving along my armpits and it was all over in a flash. The actual laser part only took about 2 minutes.

Now please don’t think that all my underarm hair is gone. I will have to undergo 6 – 8 sessions with the treatments spaced around 4 to 6 weeks apart to annihilate all the hair. The reason for the multiple sessions and the gaps between treatments is to allow time for hair follicles which were in the dormant stage of the hair growth cycle during your last treatment to become active and thus affected by the laser in the following treatment and so forth. However, after only one treatment I can definitely see that my underarm regrowth is much less than before. No pain and visible results – I’m sold! I will definitely be making a recurring booking with Mint Laser & Beauty Spa.

Lastly, I know most people are of the opinion that laser treatments are very expensive however if you consider what you would spend on other hair removal methods for the rest of your life, laser hair removal can definitely be considered as an investment. For a price list and other additional information, feel free to pop over to Mint’s website.
