Review: Wet n Wild Eye Shadow Trio

Rewind back to my varsity days, I was that snooty girl that only wore MAC eye shadow. I completely refused to wear any low-cost brand on my eyelids. How was I so opposed to cheaper make-up yet a large percentage of my clothing cupboard consisted of affordable brands? I knew I wasn’t that stuck-up and this aversion needed to be reconsidered. Enter the Wet n Wild eye shadow trio. Ta-da. No wait, I lie; first I tried using some of the cheap eye shadows lying at the bottom of my mom’s make-up draw. This did not ease my scepticism towards non-MAC eye shadow palettes at all!

When the Wet n Wild eye shadows appeared on my radar, it was the beauty bloggers and the fact that the eye shadow trio only cost around R60 that eventually convinced me to give affordable eye shadow another try. I couldn’t have been more pleasantly surprised! It offers highly pigmented colour, easy blending and long-lasting wear (tested with the use of a primer.) The three shimmery hues within the palette complement each other perfectly and the pan imprints guide you towards the desired effect.

Below are the swatches of “Walking on Eggshells” and “Sweet as Candy”. The former is my favourite for a softer, more natural look and the latter is ideal for a pink pop of colour.

Wet n Wild eye shadow trios are available in a variety of combinations at selected Clicks stores.

  1. I love those, because it actually tells you where what should go! I can't use MAC, it doesn't work with my skin.

  2. Definitely need to try these you know how frugal I am when it comes to clothes and beauty products. I got two tubs (?) of MAC eye shadow for like my 16th and finished them last year and just haven't bothered with make-up since. Dab on some base and lip gloss and off I go. Please make me more girly!

    1. Well, one would never say hun! But these are great to start with and a "5 minute face" post is on the very long to-do list. Thanks for the comment! X

  3. I was fortunate enough to receive the Sweet as Candy trio as a birthday gift and use it at least 3 times a week. Great for at work make-up and goes well with any neutral tone outfit. The actual eye shadow is soft and I get a good 7-8 hour wear.
Thanks for spoiling me and 'opening my eyes' to new products! xxx
